Carnegie John's is probably the closest you'll get to a backyard grill experience in Manhattan. I ordered the cheeseburger for $11 and what I can only assume is John threw my patty on the grill and ran through my list of topping options. In case you're thinking of going deluxe don't bother—he doesn't do fries anymore. He'll grill up some onions for you and although I didn't have my food scale the burger felt like about a half pounder to me.
